Bed Bugs

Bed bugs have returned with a vengeance after being eradicated from the U.S. after World War II with a newly introduced chemical known as DDT. Researchers have named mostly third world and underdeveloped countries as the source of this insect, and concluded that the resurgence here in the United States is due to international travelers who have visited these regions and unknowingly brought back bedbugs in their clothing or luggage.

The bed bug specie is highly adaptable to its environment, very difficult to access and can live in solitude for long periods of time after feeding, and they’re egg-laying machines. Tell-tale signs of a bedbug infestation are blood stains on the mattresses, the presence of bedbugs, skin or egg casings, and recurring bite marks on your person. These small, reddish welts from bed bug bites can occur in clusters, usually around underwear lines or the side you sleep on. Bedbugs tend to live in mattresses, bed frames, dressers, wall voids, picture frames and under baseboards. Bed bug infestations are often found in hotels, nursing homes, college dorms, apartments or wherever there is a large aggregation of people. Bed bug treatments are a little pricy, but incredibly important to completely eradicate the infestation quickly.
